Literally we "spring-clean" the tombstones of our ancestors.
Well, we used to set off in a big group and early in the wee hours.
It was a lot of fun, because we were doing things together as a big family.
Now, it's quite different.
We tried to go separate ways,
but we always ended up unable to find the tombstones.
Call it superstition, but there are some things which cannot be explained.
So we decided to go together,
but in a smaller group now - together with my uncles & cousins.

on our way.

our religion, our practice.

we gather to pray.

burning the joss paper.
I call it challenge,
cos' we always have to climb up & down the tombstones to get to my great-grandma's tombstone.
The tombstones are too close to each other, that there is no moving space.

my great-grandma's tombstone.

my great-grandma.
My cousin, Yaozong, is one traditional man.
So traditional he gets to my nerves!

Yaozong: You want uh?? Cannot lah, you are a girl!!! Only males can!
I was like, "WHAT THE HELL?!"
When my uncle (his father) said I can as long as i am not married......

Yaozong: Nah! Give you lah!!!
BUT i refused to take it. Too late bro!

the joss papers flew.....

and while the cleaner was sweeping... this was what we did!

See what all the walking did to me.
When i was still young, my cousin Yi Li would piggy-back me cos' it was hard to walk.
We reminsced the past.....

Yi Li: Come, come....
Me: Uh, i very scared leh.....

Me: YAY!
Yi Li: Wah, so heavy!!

My Dad, and his two brothers. Alike, don't they?
On the way home, we snapped photographs.
My youngest sister and Yi Li look very alike......

...and they are not real sisters.
So i joked about their parentage when my mummy was just beside me.
Guess what i got?

Thanks MUMMY!

My eldest aunt-in-law & my grandma!

Dad & Mum.

So, you can see that the bus was really shaky!!!

Me & my brother Yaozong! The bus was REALLY bumpy, lah.

We were boasting who will be famous first...

The true, display of a hungry "ghost".
It's the time when the cemetery got really crowded.
And i still remember the time,
when me, Manoj, Darryl, Kelly & Ailing went to my grandpa's tombstone for Locvid.
My Dad was with us...
I can never forget, that we could not find the tombstone until my uncle arrived -
and we realised our cab just stopped right in front of the tombstone!
And of course, Ailing's screeching scream when a dog tried to flirt with her....
Ah, those memories.
Time spent with my family is always so short, it seems.
But with 1 month to my grandma's birthday,
family meetings can only increase.
Heh.
